Linde Werdelin - The Sunset Collection

The Sunset Collection

An unbelievable day indeed! Today marks the end of an era for Linde Werdelin as the last four classic 3 Timers launch, forming the Sunset Collection.

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the brand, the name and color choice of the Sunset Collection symbolizes the closing of the day as the sun sets over the mountains or the sea. It also marks a celebration of the final 3 Timers. Simultaneously, these will be the first series that are not strictly limited by an absolute number but determined by capacity and demand, and therefore the first series without limited numbered editions for more than 16 years of Linde Werdelin watchmaking.

Founder Jorn Werdelin commented,

“Our 20th anniversary is an opportunity to move forward and make some significant changes - we feel this new chapter will provide for more creative freedom, though it is with some sadness that we are saying goodbye to the 3 Timer. We are committed to only making pieces to order and for customers being able to customize them.”

The Sunset Collection is comprised of four color ways – bright yellow, sunset pink, sunrise orange and flame red. The stainless steel case contains sapphire crystal, antireflective on the inside, and GMT hands in sunset colors corresponding to the dial. Water resistant to 300 meters and a 42-hour power reserve.

History of the 3 Timer

The 3 Timer was first introduced at Basel in March 2009 - the first time Linde Werdelin participated in the fair. Inspired by the Biformeter 2 timer but with a 24-hour bidirectional bezel instead of a 60 minute unidirectional dive bezel, it also introduced the 360 degree dial signifying the degrees of the Earth and travelling.

The 3 timer was reintroduced in 2017 with the Kristian Haagen edition in olive green colored dial and strap. Since then there has been a number of series in 33 pieces each - including the Midnight, the Ocean, the Rock and others. The last series before this ultimate collection was the Ukraine edition launched in March 2022 almost 13 years to the date of the first launch.
