Perrelet - Dual Time in Green and 3-Hands in Emerald Blue

THE LAB PERIPHERAL COLLECTION BY PERRELET WELCOMES NEW CREATIONS IN THE SHADES OF GREEN AND BLUE: “LAB PERIPHERAL DUAL TIME EMERALD GREEN”AND “LAB PERIPHERAL 3-HANDS EMERALD GREEN AND DEEP BLUE”
ARE BORN

Perrelet is world-renowned for developing watches characterised by an original and instantly recognisable design, all equipped with automatic calibres. Why only automatic movements? The answer is very simple. It is a tribute to its founder, master watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet, who invented a mechanism that was absolutely revolutionary for his epoch. He developed the first automatic calibre and it was the year 1777! This date also marks the founding of the Swiss Maison.

The brand is distinguished by its exclusive animated dials thanks to the patented Double Rotor and Turbine technologies.

In 2021, Perrelet takes the automatic movement to a higher level. This happens with the “LAB Peripheral” collection, which introduces the LAB Peripheral Dual Time and the LAB Peripheral 3-Hands models.

This line features a rotor that dances discreetly around the periphery of the dial according to the rhythm of the owner’s wrist. It accomplishes its task, does not disturb the legibility of the watch's functions and boasts a fine carving with oblique stripes. It is almost invisible but does not hide from a keen eye.

While the first editions have a more classic 'attire' in silver and black, with addition of blue only for the model with the dual time zone function, the 2023 creations welcome an emerald green hue on the dials of the LAB Peripheral Dual Time and the LAB Peripheral 3-Hands. The latter is also available in a deep blue shade. Two trendy, contemporary and well-loved colours.

The “LAB Peripheral” collection comes in a 42 mm x 42 mm stainless steel cushion-shape case, water-resistant to 5 ATM. Its soft, smooth lines along with brushed and polished lugs, the embossed rectangles decoration on the case band and the polished octagonal bezel with satin-brushed profile, endow this model with a strong and distinctive character.

The case frames a finely adorned multi-layered dial with a combination of various decorative motifs which endow the dial with stunning beauty and add depth. The minute flange matches the dial colours contrasting the silver shade of the peripheral oscillating weight.

“LAB Peripheral Dual Time Emerald Green” provides the practical GMT function on the silvered counter at 6 o’clock. Decorated with circular grooves it bears the second-time indication and it reveals the day/night indication through a small round aperture between 10 and 11 o’clock. To enhance optimal legibility, at 12 o’clock the date is displayed in two small windows while it’s visible at 6 o’clock on the “LAB Peripheral 3-Hands Deep Blue and Emerald Green”.

The time can be read by means of luminescent hands pointing towards applied cut-out hour-markers filled with Super-LumiNova, emitting white glow in the dark. They emanate from the centre of the dial and are suspended towards the minute flange, giving the impression that they are literally floating on air. This results in an unhindered view onthe most distinctive feature of these timepieces: its peripheral oscillating weight.

The oscillating mass observable on the dial-side is made possible thanks to the clever in-house manufacture self-winding movements, calibre P- 411 for the time-only version and calibre P-421 for the dual time model, both beating at 28.800 vibrations per hour and offering 42-hour of power reserve. The rotor on ball bearings, a 180° plate’s segment, is fixed to a wheel with toothing inside, which engages with a pinion on the outer rim of the movement and transmits the energy to the gear-train winding the mainspring.

The sapphire crystal porthole on the case back reveals the balance in action and the rhodium-plated bridges with Côtes de Genève finishing and 3N gold engravings that can be admired in all their beauty given the absence of the rotor as expected from a traditional automatic movement.

“LAB Peripheral Dual Time Emerald Green” and “LAB Peripheral 3-Hands Emerald Green and Deep Blue” are complemented by a calf leather strap with an alligator pattern and white stitching matching the shades of the dial, closed by a steel folding buckle personalised with the brand’s logo.
