The essential Nord collection – Linde Werdelin extends the family with the Oktopus Nord and the SpidoLite Nord.

Both inspired by the dark blue changing colors of the North Sea’s deep waters, the black/blue fumé dials on these two mirror image pieces feature varied gradations of blue and black; the dial surrounded by a sandblasted, highly anti corrosive, titanium grade 2 case.

Each piece can be paired with a range of straps, including their natural rubber strap, all now consisting of 30% recycled rubber and representing our continuous move towards using the most sustainable materials that they can source. (Read my other blog post about their most recent award)

Oktopus Nord

Powered by the modified Dubois Dépraz double date movement, this series introduces Linde Werdelin’s first Oktopus series with a full titanium grade 2 case (all previously manufactured Oktopus of this generation have a ceramic bezel).

A highly technical watch made for diving and continuously tested by Linde Werdelin’s divers it is able to submerge to great depths and resist any corrosion normally associated with submersion in salt water.

The case construction is inspired by diving bells. A central piece containing the movement symbolizes protection of life while the outer case parts serves functionality with strap. A two layer dial comprises an upper layer dial laser-cut in stencil technique with both layers individually handcrafted to create the gradations in blue and black. The hands are in stainless steel with satin finish and ultramarine luminova.

The Oktopus Nord is a limited edition of 88 numbered pieces.

SpidoLite Nord

The SpidoLite family is focused on extreme weight-reduction invented in 2008 and inspired by an expedition to Mount Everest in 2007. The family is designed to balance strength with lightness and optimize performance, particularly in high altitude pursuits.

The SpidoLite Nord is powered by a customized movement developed with the Jacquet’s family owned factory Concepto. It includes ceramic bearings as well as a strengthened balance wheel to maximize reliability.

It is entirely crafted in titanium grade 2, with a sandblasted finish on the case, and constructed of 19 components. It features a two-part skeletonised Nord fume dial and see through sapphire crystal backcase.

The SpidoLite Nord is a limited edition of 75 numbered pieces

In normal Linde Werdelin fashion both the Oktopus and SpidoLite Nords, as with all of their watches, can be purchased with a range of interchangeable straps of varied colours and textures. They recommend a midnight blue, pitch black or snow white rubber strap. The Linde Werdelin interchangeable strap system comes as a further benefit to all of their customers.

About Linde Werdelin

Linde Werdelin explores the heights of the mountains and the depths of the sea. The brand was born out of a life-threatening event in the Swiss Alps, a 40 year friendship and an uncompromising drive for genuine quality and usefulness. In the winter of 1996, Jorn Werdelin, a keen mountaineer and off-piste skier, was taken by surprise in a bout of bad weather, got lost, skied off a cliff and broke his back.

In 2002, Jorn Werdelin partnered with his friend Morten Linde to develop a new idea: a highly crafted sports watch, that could be combined with a professional digital instrument to provide the right level of information at the right time for skiing and diving. Today they continue to develop and expand their interpretation of the two universes - skiing and diving - in their limited edition timepieces. The extreme beauty of the mountains and the sea acts as a perpetual source of inspiration for the destiny of Linde Werdelin.

I am a big fan of Linde Werdelin, their dedication to the brand and their collectors is one of the best!
