Perrelet -Animalier Artwork for Perrelet's Laterst "Turbine Tiger" Limited to 25 Pieces!
Perrelet Turbine Tiger
Perrelet’s iconic “Turbine” collection has undergone countless interpretations over the years, always tuned into the latest trends and tastes in watchmaking.
With the launch of its E-commerce platform making its debut on September 15th 2021, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, with its unique and immediately recognizable identity, proposes an appealing on-line Boutique Edition in a limited edition of just 25 pieces for 2021: “Turbine Tiger”.
Since its launch in 2009, the signature Turbine collection has positioned itself as the brand’s best-seller. An aesthetic and mechanical success, the Turbine is famous for its rotating blades that are set in motion with the slightest movement of the wrist. The lower dial, glimpsed between the spinning blades, offers Perrelet’s designers an empty canvas to give free reign to their imagination.
As its name suggests, “Turbine Tiger” features a tiger on the lower dial. A common subject in figurative arts since the time of the ancient Romans, this creature plays also a leading role in the Asian culture. In Japan, the tiger quickly entered the local tradition and imagination. His figure is almost ever-present in the art of the “Rising Sun” although the Japanese tiger is famous for not looking much like the real animal. In the
Buddhism, the tiger represents faith and spiritual endeavor. Indian mythology is full of tigers: tiger fights dragons, brings rain during drought, brings babies to childless mothers and is the emblem of supremacy and divine power. In China the tiger is one of the signs of the Chinese Zodiac and individuals born under this sign would be characterized by an energetic and courageous personality. This elegant feline, that in China is also considered the "King of animals", while in Western culture it is usually the lion that has that "title", is a widely recognized symbol of strength, courage and power.
Perrelet’s DNA embodies these very same qualities: the willpower to create unique, exclusive and reliable watches; the courage to dare with an unconventional style; and the power to manage all the design and production phases of a watch in-house at the brand’s Manufacture.
“Turbine Tiger” comes in a round, sporty case decorated with the hallmark vertical fluting along the sides of the case and integrated crown at 3 o’clock. Crafted in steel with a black PVD coating for superior resilience to scratches, the diameter of the watch is 48mm and the water-resistance is rated at 5 ATM/50m.
The Turbine, with its 12 black anodized aluminium blades, is the indisputable symbol of the brand’s identity. Five tungsten counterweights placed below the blades capture the slightest movement of the wrist to generate the oscillating movement of the blades. As soon as the blades are set in motion, the turbine reveals the refined miniature artwork specially designed for this new edition. An imposing golden tiger’s head, picked out in shades of orange, black, white and grey, captures the majesty and ferociousness of the feline. Beyond the surprising hide-and-seek effect created by the spinning blades, the assembly of the blades demands perfectly balanced and calibrated components to function smoothly, a task performed by the Manufacture’s highly skilled watchmakers.
To ensure optimal legibility in any light conditions, the hour and minute hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova, as are the minute indices and Arabic numerals. The uneven hours on the flange are picked out in red echoing the color of the central seconds hand.
This new limited edition is dedicated to watchmaking enthusiasts on the hunt for an exclusive design coupled with reliable mechanics of the Manufacture automatic movement, calibre P-331-MH, Chronofiable and COSC Certified. Beating at 28,800vph, the movement supplies 42 hours of power reserve. The sapphire porthole on the case back, fixed by a ring that echoes the decorative features on the bezel, reveals the refined finishing with Côtes de Genève on the bridges and the open-worked rotor mounted on ball bearings. The rotor is personalized with the Perrelet logo, and the inscription “Limited Edition 01/25” is transferred on the sapphire crystal.
“Turbine Tiger” is completed by a black rubber strap embellished with vertical fluting and a black PVD-coated steel pin buckle with the brand logo.
This exclusive timepiece comes in a special watch box decorated on the inside with an image of the tiger depicted on the lower dial.
